Quality Assurance

How the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Rivers State University, assures the quality of its programmes.

Quality in open and distance learning is designed into the system. Our programmes follow NUC guidelines and the principle of parity of esteem: an ODL degree must be equal in quality to a conventional degree.

  • Annual review of every programme.
  • Anonymous course evaluation by learners at the end of each semester.
  • Learner satisfaction surveys every semester.
  • Peer observation of every e-tutor at least once a year.
  • At least one external examiner for each programme.
  • A quality improvement log, so that findings lead to action.
  • Regular compliance reports to the Governing Board and to NUC through the University’s Academic Planning Unit.
